Sofia Bucci - 'The Taste of Leaves' (Il Sapore delle Foglie)

"'The Taste of Leaves' represents what remains and what gets lost."

Bucci presents us with an exquisitely presented collection of work, painstakingly and beautifully put together into something which is not just a book but also, presented in a beautiful box, resembles a collection of objects and personal reminders. No attention to detail is spared and the feeling of holding something precious and unique is incredibly apt to the subject matter Bucci is tackling.

The images in this book were taken before a serious surgery for the removal of brain cancer. The images like the memories of the time before this surgery have become corrupted and 'unrecoverable', completely lost along with the memory.

'The Taste of Leaves' acts as a document not just of what was and is lost, but also of what is not lost in the wake of events.

'If photography is memory, this is what remains'.
